SPRING GET-A-WAY !

Want to go on a mission trip but think you don=t know the working end of a hammer from the handle?  Or maybe you just aren=t into construction?  Here=s your opportunity. Jeanette  &  Terry Tangeman are planning a Work Trip to New Orleans on April 10-18th (includes travel time).  People who take part in this trip can work on construction if that is your thing.  However, this trip is unique in that arrangements can be made for you to work with many different types of needs.  Hurricanes did not just destroy homes; they destroyed many facets of daily life.  So if you love animals, have a green thumb and love the feel of the earth, have a listening ear and a big heart, love books, love to cook, or - - you tell us what your special interests are - chances are we can find a place for you to work that week.  We have had our work campers in a variety of settings, each bringing God=s love in tangible form and helping to give hope to people whose lives are still in chaos. Yes, even 4 2 years after Katrina.  The approximate cost of the trip, NOT including transportation, is $170 per person.  This includes accommodations and food while in New Orleans.  You can drive, carpool, or even fly.  Sometimes people can only come for part of the time and that is OK, too.  If you are at all interested, give us a call, 419-234-7935 (Jeanette=s cell) or e-mail, tangeman@ohiolink.net for more information; the sooner the better.  Make a real difference in someone=s lifeBand in your own.  Join us for an unforgettable week.

FEED YOUR NEIGHBOR

February 21, 2010

For our February giving, we are asked to bring non-perishable food, or a monetary donation may be placed in a pew envelope.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to be guided and challenged by the word of God as we reach out to all of God=s creation, providing meaningful worship and spiritual education.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

CONFIRMATION

Confirmation class will meet February 6th, 9:00-noon.  Old Testament books of History and Poetry and the Haiti mission project are on the agenda.

SOUPER BOWL OF CARING  - LUNCHEON   FEB, 7TH

Souper Bowl Sunday will again be met with the challenge by youth across the nation to make it a ABOWL OF CARING@ to feed the hungry.  Our Youth together with the Mission Team will be serving a Soup and Sandwich luncheon and taking donations following Worship on February 7.  We all know the need for food for the hungry is greater than ever this year.  All the profits from the luncheon/donations go to the charity of our choice here in our area.  Last year we donated $445 to Helping Hands through our Souper Bowl of Caring activities.  Please plan now to attend the luncheon and donate generously.

The Souper Bowl of Caring is transforming Super Bowl weekend into the nation=s largest youth-led weekend of giving and serving.  Organizations in all 50 states generated more than $10 million in cash and non-perishable food items in 2009.  Every penny and food item went directly to charities that help those in need.  Since 1990, over $60 million has been generated for hunger-relief organizations across the country.  We are proud to be part of this much larger program.

From Paul Cook, Director, Helping Hands of St. Louis

Dear Supporter, Thank you for your donations of $200 on ll/ll/2009 and $286.93 on 12/16/2009.  The Holiday Season is in full force as I write this.  We are gearing up for our Christmas Baskets on the 18th; our Christmas Dinner on the 22nd, and Santa comes to visit the kids for our Christmas Party on the 21st.  It=s a very exciting (and exhausting) time here at Helping Hands.  The donations we get during the Christmas Season go a long way in providing for our programs during the dry winter months of January through March.  Every time Christmas rolls around the generosity of our donors just amazes me.  I want to extend a huge heartfelt Thank You for your support of our mission of providing for those struggling in these economic times.  God Bless and thank you for caring!
