STEWARDSHIP

Top 10 Reasons Why I Give Money to This Church

#10 - Because, in the real world, ministries need supplies, leaders, staff, equipment, curriculum, sheet music, etc - worldly stuff for an out-of-this-world revelation of love!

#9 - Because I said I would, When we join the church, we give our word that we will support our local congregation with our prayers, presence, gifts, and service.

Watch for the remaining reasons in future >Chimes=

NEW MISSION STATEMENT FOR MEMORIAL CHURCH

The Adult Church School Class has been having good conversa- tions about Memorial Church - Who we Are?  Who we need to be?  Our strengths and weaknesses. In the process, we all agreed that we need a Mission Statement that is - Aeasy to remember - understand - and to which we can relate@.  Thru the process, we have come up with the following statement (still in process - open to ideas and changes).

MEMORIAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST is called to follow JESUS -

J ourney toward a Christ-centered life . . (thru Worship, Education & Service)

E ngage in the life of the Community

S upport those in need

U nite in fellowship

S pread the WORD

We will be having Small Group discussions during Coffee Hour on Sunday, March 14th, to continue the process, and also discuss the role this statement will have in Memorial=s future.

RUMMAGE SALE

As Spring approaches (?), we need to get ready for our next Rummage Sale!  Time to look at your cupboards, drawers, closets and the garage or basement to see what you would like to bring for the sale.  It may be just what someone else would like to own.  Our set-up of tables will be following worship on Sunday, April 11th; sorting begins the next day, and the sale will be held on Friday, April 16th and Saturday, April 17th. Many willing workers are needed during that week to prepare for the sale, and on Saturday to pack up items that remain.  They will again be given to Helping Hands of St. Louis.
